Lesson 12

Lesson 12
Changing a clip's Speed
Reverse direction – Modify > Speed    -or-   Command J   Shows speed of -100%
Slow clip down (or speed up) will Ripple the rest
To keep original length: Mark I/O with X - Change Speed - RR to Ripple to original I/O

Fit to Fill Edit: Find Master and load in Viewer with F – Change I/O as desired - Drag to Canvas Edit Overlay (green) for Fit to Fill

Use Remap in Viewer Motion tab to speed up/slow down within a clip

Freeze-Frame – Modify > Make Freeze Frame  -or-  Shift N
Name contains Timecode position
To save FreezeFrame – Drag from Viewer to Browser.  It is a Master Clip

Run and Freeze – Find frame in Timeline and Shift N
Set I at that exact point and O at clip end
Overwrite FreezeFrame to marked section of Timeline

Run – Freeze – Run – Select desired frame and Shift N - Lock all Audio Tracks –
Insert Edit into Video track – No gap in Audio because tracks locked

Lock all Video – Shift F4         Lock all Audio – Shift F5

Motion parameters can be changed for any clip

Viewer – Motion Tab: Red X resets all – Displayed Parameters – Collapsed Parameters – Keyframe Graph

Timeline – set playhead in clip to see in Canvas -  Double click to put it in Viewer

Canvas – Set Zoom tab to less than full window size when re-sizing video

Viewer – Move Center or type in numbers (default is 0,0)

Choose View > Image & Wireframe  -or- W to move image in either Viewer or Canvas
This updates the numbers in the Center box
Scale image by dragging, or typing a percentage.  Tiny arrow increment by one
Resize Wireframe at corners  -  This updates numbers in Scale

Splitscreen or Multiframe effect – Picture in Picture
With stacked clips – only see the top one unless size, position opacity are different
Remember a size of 50% is ¼ of the screen (50% in both directions)
Use Wireframe to resize and move but finesse these with real, whole numbers
C for Crop tool – Wireframe still shows un-cropped area for reference
     Hold Shift to constrain drag
Copy and Paste Motion and Crop attributes with Paste Attributes

Animating Motion Parameters – requires at least 2 Keyframes
Expand Viewer to show Keyframe Area.
Note Zoom control and Zoom slider like Timeline.  Shift Z works too
With Text – change size in Control tab, NOT Motion Scale to preserve Vector
Rotate – drag dial, type number, drag edge in Canvas
Anchor Point is the point of rotation – center by default
To preview without rendering – Tools > Quick View  -or-  Option 8
