Up to 99 Audio tracks in a single Sequence
Change volume in Master Clip and it will be edit into timeline at that volume
Animate Volume – raise and lower it in a Sequence
Audio Levels Overlay – Option W
Waveforms – Option Command W
Link/UnLink Stereo pair – Option L -- Note double green arrows
If mono only, pan to center to play out of both speakers
Modify > Audio > Pan Center -or- Control .
In Viewer, -1 is Left 0 is Center 1 is Right
Very bottom left of Timeline – Audio Controls button, opens Mute and Solo
Digital audio 0 dB is maximum – clipping
Dialogue: -12dB to -6dB
Music: -15db to -18dB
Peak should be -6dB to -3db total - all tracks
Solo/Mute while playing adds/removes track from playback
Audible button (green) stops playback
Select multiple tracks to change audio level: Modify > Audio > Apply Normalization Gain
dBFS – decibels full scale – shighest volume will be raised to set level
Copy clip – CTRL-click and choose Paste Attributes
Select Multiple clips – Modify > Levels to adjust gain
Animate Audio –
Divide music into separate clips with Blade tools – apply 3dB crossfade
Set Keyframes to change volume
Audio Overlay on (Option W)
P for Pen tool PP for Delete Point
Mark pink keyframe on overlay
Option with Selection Tool (A) changes to Pen tool (or Delete Point)
Crosshair lets you drag keyframe up/down to raise/lower volume
Audio Mixer to mix in Real Time:
Audio Mixing Window Layout -or- Tools>Audio Mixer -or- Opt 6
Upper Right – Record Audio Keyframes to mix on the fly
Mute/Solo buttons are linked to those in Timeline
Play clip with animated audio and watch the faders move
Faders work with both tracks of linked pair so hide second track for simpler interface
Master Level shows over all mix – keep below -3dB
Turn Record Audio Keyframes on; Start playing track; Move faders to set keyframes on the fly
Recording Narration Track
Set I/O points to define are for Voiceover
Tools > Voice Over -or- Option 0
4 areas – Status, Audio File, Input, Headphones
Voice Over always sets target track to the one directly below the last patched track
Set rate to 48kHz in Input area – talk to test/set gain
Deselect Sound Cues to turn off audible beep countdown
Playhead will jump back to pre-roll and Ready to Reacord will start count down
All recordings are put on new tracks unless Discard Last Recording button is clicked
Importing CD Tracks
CDs are 44.1 Khz DV is 48.0 kHz Best to convert first
Create Processing Bin: File > Batch Export Export Que window opens
Insert CD and drag tracks from Finder to Export Cue
Highlight CD bin, Click Settings button,
Batch window appears
Set Destination - path for converted files
Format – AIFF (Audio Interchagne File Format)
Options – 48 kHz
Once set, click Export button to process files
